Thou­sands of Brit­ish trawl­ers and their crews were recruited into ser­vice as mine­sweep­ers and U-boat hunters in the First World War, and hun­dreds of boats and crew­mem­bers were lost to enemy action. One sur­viv­ing ves­sel was Viola, the sub­ject of our book by Robb Robin­son and Ian Hart. Robb appears in a new 45-minute doc­u­ment­ary film No Fish Today, about the trawlermen’s unsung yet vital con­tri­bu­tion in the war at sea, made by Hum­ber­side com­munity broad­caster Estu­ary TV, and now avail­able to watch on You­Tube here.
